New Mexico Legal Marketing

Ancestors of Native Americans, the Clovis-Paleo Indians, inhabited the New Mexico areas as long ago as 10,000 BC. The first Europeans arrived in 1540 and it became a territory of the US in 1850. A census taken in 1860 showed 80,000 people living in the New Mexico Territory, largely along the Rio Grande, Pecos and Canadian rivers.

After many attempts, New Mexico became the 47th state on January 6, 1912, and today its population of nearly 2,010,000 people dwarfs that 1860 census. Santa Fe, the state capital, was established in 1607, making it the oldest US capital. Over 72,000 people live there today. The largest city in the state is Albuquerque, with almost 505,000 residents.
