Kentucky Legal Marketing

The state of Kentucky started life as Kentucky County, Va. It eventually became the 15th state admitted to the Union, and the first state west of the Appalachians, on June 1, 1792. Although the state never officially seceded from the Union in the Civil War, the Confederate flag’s central star symbolizes Kentucky. The two sides fought over the state in 1862, with the Union regaining control in the Battle of Perryville.

Today, the Bluegrass State has about 4,314,000 residents, some 256,200 of whom live in its largest city, Louisville. Frankfort, the capital almost since the beginning – Lexington was capital for less than a year – has almost 27,100 residents.
