Hawaii Legal Marketing

Hawaii is believed to have first been settled by Polynesians who arrived on the Big Island about 1,500 years ago, after traveling over 2,000 miles from the Marquesas Islands. In 1778, Captain James Cook named the island chain the Sandwich Islands, after “discovering” Kauai. Protestant missionaries followed in 1820, and it wouldn’t be long before the Americans took over. They overthrew the Hawaiian Kingdom in 1893 and made Hawaii a US territory in 1898. It became the final state admitted to the Union on August 21, 1959.

The Aloha State has one of the smallest populations of all the states, with about 1,295,200 inhabitants. The state’s capital of Honolulu is located on the Island of O’ahu, and almost 377,400 people call the city home, making it the largest city in the state.
